The KDS is a beautiful, romantic, almost without exception quiet tourist excursion road with numerous viewpoints. It is 300 km long and can also be driven in sections thanks to the two north-south connections, the Nassfeld Pass and the Plöcken Pass. The beautiful landscape invites you to go hiking and climbing. Many heights and side valleys can be reached by car via mountain and alpine roads. Numerous alpine pastures are farmed during the alpine season. Because of the friendly relationship between Austria and Italy, the national border is no obstacle for hikers.

The inhabitants of the KDS have been cultivating folklore and customs since time immemorial. The different eating habits offer the gourmet culinary specialities in Carinthian, Tyrolean and Italian style. The climate, influenced by the Adriatic Sea, is mild and is characterized by beautiful summers and snowy winters.
