Central railway station Villach

From the central railway station Villach follow the Bahnhofstrasse until you reach the bridge over the river Drau. Before the bridge turn left into the Nikolaigasse. Walk past the red and modern building (Villach Congress Center) and follow the river until you reach the next bridge. Cross it and enjoy the wonderful view of the beautiful mountain chain to the east (Karawanken) and the water of the river. Continue to walk soutwards until you reach the Freihausgasse - go straight ahead and take the first right. Walking trough a narrow alley, you get to the main square with its many attractions, cafes and shops. Walk up the main square until you reach the town hall square. Before visiting the square, turn right to the parish church. Follow the way back and turn right until you get to the end of the main square (pedestrian area). Follow the road straight ahead (walk past the Park Hotel) in the 10th Oktoberstraße . After the bus stops, turn left and proceed past the venerable Perau school to the Schiller park. There is a bust of the namesake of the park and the Relief of Carinthia. After a short visit go back towards the bus stops, but instead of going back to the main square,  go straight ahead towards the Italiener Straße. Here, turn right and and go on towards Hans-Gasser-Platz . Turning into the Widmanngasse you get past the town museum of Villach to the old castle of Villach, next to the river. From there you can walk along the river back to the bridge. Cross it and follow the Bahnhofstraße back to the central railway station Villach.
