This short family hike leads you through the pretty forest around Warmbad. Following the Roman path, you can take a trip through history while enjoying nature.

Author’s recommendation

The Maibachl spring is a joy to experience when it is full- the ideal time to visit is during the cold winter months if you want a warm bath outside!

Destination

Kurpark Warmbad (Warmbad Spring Gardens)

Turn-by-turn directions

The starting point of this hike is the Warmbad Spring Gardens (Kurpark Warmbad).  The first part of the hike is the natural and cultural heritage trail.  Children and adults can both learn a lot here about the local nature.  There are 45 plant signs and 22 animal signs with pictures and descriptions along the first part of the hike.  Additionally, there are plaques with descriptions of anthills, deadwood and tree growth rings.  There are also cultural aspects to the hike, such as grave mounds from the Celtic era.  There are several rest areas along the way where you can enjoy panoramic views of the nature in peace.  The Roman path then leads you further to "Oberfederaun" to the Federaun ruins.  From there you can take the Doctor path (Doktorweg) to the north past the Zillerbad facilities, back to the starting point.
