Turn-by-turn directions
Drive from Rennweg to St. Peter, passing Alpenglühn guesthouse and continue on a forest road until you reach Wolfsbachtal car park. The walk starts here on agricultural road no. 9, passing meadows in bloom, until you reach Torscharte. From Torscharte take the slightly steeper track on the left that leads to Stubeck (magnificent view of Nockberge and Hohen Tauern). Here take trail no. 8c – an easy high ridge – that leads down to Karscharte. Further below you can see a small mountain lake, the Luckasee (path barely visible), which is the next destination. You can get back to the starting point through the meadows and a subsequent steep track and forest path, passing Wansinghütte (chalet) and then back to Wolfsbachtal car park.
Note: you can also reach Wolfsbachtal from the village of St. Peter, via shady trail no. 8b or forest trail no. 9 (duration: 2 hours).
You can reach Reitereck from Torscharte (difficult tour – only recommended for hikers with Alpine experience, suitable gear and sure-footedness!)
via trail no. 9a (steeper incline over Poisnig and Wandspitze).
