The Carinthian Slow Trails stand for "slow motion" instead of "high speed" and offer leisurely, relaxed hiking tours - always taking care of nature and bringing you to the most scenic spots near the beautiful Carinthian lakes.
easy
Distance 4 km
The Slow Trail Faaker See leads through the idyllic nature and landscape protection area on the edge of the Drobollacher Moor. Enjoy the great views on the way - such as the Karawanken mountain chain with the Mittagskogel as the most striking and highest elevation in the Villach - Faaker See region. The Slow Trail leads over natural paths either to the peninsula or to the village of Drobollach, always to one of the free lake accesses.

Turn-by-turn directions
Starting from the hiking and tour starting point of the Drobollach tourist information office, walk southwards to the Drobollach Peace Chapel. The facade was designed by the Carinthian artist Giselbert Hocke and shows the bond between the people living in Carinthia, Italy and Slovenia. Walk on for a few minutes to Panorama Beach (one of the free accesses to the lake). Use this opportunity to cool off in the crystal - clear water. From here the path (path no. 40) leads westwards and after a short ascent, the route branches off to the left onto a natural meadow path (path no. 10). On this section you can enjoy the most beautiful view of the Faaker See and the striking mountain Mittagskogel (2,145 m). The path joins the sidewalk along Kohlstattstrasse and follows it for about 5 minutes before turning left into a cool forest. After a slight ascent you reach a small crossroad with the option to walk to the peninsula or to Faak am See (approx. 20-30 minutes walking time). The tour described here branches off to the left, descending briefly towards the peninsula. The federal sports and leisure center at the eastern end can be reached via a natural path (be aware of the roots) and you have to walk the last 10 minutes on the path near the shore to the end of the peninsula. There is a small lake access as a swimming opportunity. The indicated walking time only refers to the Drobollach - Peninsula route. For the way back you should plan another 1 - 1 1/4 hours.
