Wildlife Tip - Spotted nutcracker
This bird, with its unmistakeable call, lives in mountainous conifer forests up to the treeline, particularly in areas of stone pine. Its most important food source is the nuts of the stone pine. In summer, the spotted nutcracker builds up stores of these nuts, which it then finds easily again in winter, thanks to its good memory.

Trail no. 194 leads away from the Lamprechthütte mountain hut, a short distance along the road to Trail no. 193. The path continues via Rabenkofel to Stileck (2,179 m). Here, hikers can enjoy stunning panoramic views encompassing the Hohe Tauern mountain range, the Carnic and Julian Alps, the Karawanken massif and the Niedere Tauern and Radstädter Tauern mountain ranges. The individual summits can be identified on a plaque-mounted panoramic map. The route continues to the Langnock and from there back to the starting point. Here, high above the village of Kaning and not far from Nöringsattel, a stage of extraordinary natural beauty opens up: from the summits of Rabenkogel, Stileck and Langnock, the picturesque southern slopes seem to flow down to the Lamprechtalmhütte mountain hut.
