Crossing the Ehrwald Sonnenspitze
The Ehrwalder Sonnenspitze rises from the ground in the immediate vicinity of the Zugspitze. With a height of 2417 m it is not the highest, but certainly the most beautiful peak in the area. Its mostly firm and rough rock invites climbing. The route via the high passage, the Seebensee, the Coburger Hütte and the Drachensee is very varied and never gets boring. The route is easy. Apart from the easy climbing, a head for heights and surefootedness are required, especially at the summit, because the last few metres lead over a narrow ridge with a climbing section. At the top there is a fantastic mountain panorama with the Zugspitze, Mieminger Kette and Ammergau Alps. The descent is via the north side and can be difficult if there is still snow. Therefore, one should not be on the trail too early in the year.
