Das Gestein am Steinschneider nennt sich Kristallin - Kalk mit sehr viel Turmaline. Er ist ein sehr schöner Marmor. Die Koralpe besteht hauptsächlich aus Gneis und Glimaschiefer und Kristallin - Kalk. Hier ist ein großes Lass drinnen. Die geht vom Frauenkogel herüber übers Große Kar heraus und übern Wasserhang wieder herunter. Dort wo Kristallin - Kalk und saures Gestein sich treffen, dort ist ein richtiges Gemisch. An diesem Platz wachsen die seltsamsten Pflanzen. Die nennt man auch Endemieden. Es gibt hier eine Pflanze die hat auf der ganzen Welt den Namen von der Koralpe. Das ist das Koralpen Berufskraut.
