This pleasant path takes you from Heiligengeist to Hundsmarhof. The trail can be walked with a baby carriage. This hike is well suited for a half day trip with a nice stop to rest on the way. 

The Hundsmarhof is also open in winter.

Author’s recommendation

A stop at the Hundsmarhof is highly recommended. The dining room is very quaint and in nice weather you can enjoy the sun in front of the restaurant.

Turn-by-turn directions

From the parking lot in Heiligengeist, you begin your hike on a paved road past a beautiful meadow upwards, always walking towards the signs marked "Hundsmarhof."  After a few minutes you pass a ski lift and arrive at a forest.  At this point you have already covered most of the altitude for the whole hike!  From here a gravel path rolls pleasantly up and down until you reach the meadow where Hundsmarhof is located.  

Take the same route to get back.

Take the Villach main train station- Heiligengeist -Bad Bleiberg line 8570 "Ebner Reisen"/"Wiegele Reisen" and exit at Heiligengeist.

Getting there

From Villach: West on L35 towards Bad Bleiberg to Heiligengeist

From Hermagor: To Notsch. From there also take the L35 to Bad Bleiberg and continue towards Villach to Heiligengeist
