Schaidasattel & Rosental-Tour
Tourismusregion Klopeiner See - Südkärnten GmbH Verified partner Explorers Choice
Please Note! This tour follows the majority of the roads of the signposted Karawanken Runde Tour.
Leaving Klopeiner See for Eberndorf and the village Stift, you then pass by the beautiful Gösselsdorfer See on the cycle track. Staying on the cycle track as far as Miklauzhof you then head south into the valley and follow the river to Bad Eisenkappel where at the start of the village you turn off west and follow the beautiful valley road which runs in the shadow of the Hochobir to the north and the Slovenien Karawanken to the south.
The valley continuously climbs before the last few steep km's to the summit of the pass with views of the Klagenfurter mountains sweeping in front of you. Descending to Zell-Schaida you then have the option of cutting the ride shorter (** Please see Author's advice notes) or proceeding on to Zell along the mountain roads.
From Zell care should be taken on the very long descent to Ferlach on uneven mountain roads before joining the B85 heading east. The undulating road gives views along the Drau as you pass through St. Margareten and Wildenstein before cutting through the forest and climbing to Rückersdorf, passing Turner See and back to Klopeiner See.
