Turn-by-turn directions

From the village of Afritz follow the Verditzer Straße until you reach the Lärchenboden where there are enoug parking spaces available. Follow the road to Steinhauser Hütte and from there take the forest road (path no. 28) up to the fork where the road turns into a forest path. After some crossings of various forest roads you will reach the Schwarzsee hut (1,750 m - not open in winter). You are only a short walk away of the small lake Schwarzsee (1.791 m). From there you can extend the tour to the Palnock (1,901 m) by going west (route nr. 180). However, our tour leads to the east (route nr. 179) to the Amberger Alm with a wonderful view of Carinthia, the Dobratsch and the Gurktaler Alps. After an extensive sunbath, the descent over the former ski slope is particularly interesting when coverd with new snow, Ski down until a trail (path no. 27 or 180) crosses the slope. Here you branch off into the hiking trail and follow the path to the Lärchenboden.

By road

Exit the A10 motorway at Villach - Ossiacher See and follow the B94 and the B98 to Afritz. Between the bakery Strobl and the hotel Mirnock turn left into the Verditzer Straße and drive upill to the Lärchenboden parking area.
